“Spoon sweets” are traditional Greek sweet preserves served by the spoonful as a gesture of hospitality. They can be made from almost any fruit, especially prized are sour and bitter varieties, but not exclusively. A well-crafted spoon sweet maintains the original shape, color, aroma, and taste of the fruit. Our collection from “Georgoulas Bros” features grated quinces, unripe figs and walnuts, bergamot and watermelon peels, young rose petals and firiki apples, pitted black cherries, and green olives.
Traditionally, spoon sweets are offered alongside coffee or tea but are also delicious as toppings for Greek yogurt and ice cream. More modern uses include spreading them on toast for breakfast or serving on cheese platters.
