Echt & Puur – from our family to yours
Echt & Puur is a small family business from Eindhoven, specialising in Romanian honey and extra virgin olive oil from Greece. We also carefully source bee products, nuts, sesame bars and other authentic specialities from Romania and Greece — honest products with real flavour, chosen as we would choose them for our own family.
We do not choose products simply to fill an online shop. Everything you find at Echt & Puur is selected first for our own family. We want to offer families across Europe the same products we enjoy and trust ourselves: honest, full of flavour and with a clear origin.
Our online shop is called Bioromania.nl because we began with a selection of authentic Romanian products. Since then, our range has grown to include extra virgin olive oil and specialities from Greece, along with carefully chosen products from other European countries, all under the name Echt & Puur.
A childhood among nature, honey and craftsmanship
I grew up in rural Romania, where I lived until I was twenty. At my family home, much of our food came straight from our own household: grown, harvested and prepared with care. It taught me early on how much work, patience and skill lie behind truly honest products. That is why, at Echt & Puur, I carefully choose products from producers who work with respect for nature, tradition and their craft.
I attended an agricultural secondary school, where I learned about nature, farming and bees. Romanian honey was always part of our everyday life. During the Ceaușescu era, sugar was scarce and distributed through ration cards. For us as children, honey from local beekeepers was a simple, natural and accessible sweet treat. That memory taught me early on to value pure honey and the dedication of the beekeepers behind every jar.
Bee pollen, bee bread and other bee products were also familiar in our community and traditionally formed part of a varied diet. Sea buckthorn was valued for its distinctive taste and its familiar place in local households. We gathered hazelnuts ourselves in summer, when we went to the mountain meadows to bring in hay.
I grew up believing that good food can be simple, seasonal and as minimally processed as possible. That experience still guides the way I select products for Echt & Puur: with care for clean ingredients, authentic flavour and an origin you can trust.
Greece, where my passion for olive oil began
After Romania, I lived in Greece for 28 years. There, I discovered the world of olives and olive oil even more deeply.
My first job in Greece was picking olives. In the years that followed, I learned a great deal about the work in olive groves: caring for the trees, harvesting the olives and producing olive oil. That is why olive oil is more than simply a product I sell. I know the work in the groves, the trees, the harvest and the people behind every bottle.
The extra virgin olive oil from Messinia that we offer comes from the Peloponnese in Greece. It is made by a close friend and producer whom I know personally and trust. On the farm, a small team of three people cares for around 3,000 olive trees. Behind every bottle are patience, careful work and respect for the land.
I know who produces this olive oil, how it is made and how much care and work go into every harvest. That is why I chose this partnership: for its quality, clear origin, personal connection and the wish to support a small Greek farm.
A small, carefully chosen selection
In 2020, I moved to the Netherlands with my family. This is where Echt & Puur began: first from the wish to find high-quality products for our own family, with authentic flavour and a clear origin — products I could not easily find in supermarkets or in many online shops.
Our range is intentionally not extensive. We would rather choose carefully than offer many similar products. We look for products with a story, the clearest possible origin and an authentic taste — products you would feel confident choosing for your own family.

International recognition for our olive oil
The quality of the olive oil we offer has also been recognised in international competitions:
- Silver medal in Amsterdam in 2025.
- Gold medal in Berlin in 2025.
- Gold medal in Berlin in 2026.
For us, these awards are a welcome recognition of the producer’s work and the quality of the olive oil we are proud to offer. Even more important to us is the response from customers when they taste our products and choose them again later.
You can also meet us beyond the online shop
Echt & Puur is not only online. We are also present at Romanian events in the Netherlands and Belgium, at FeelGood Market in Eindhoven, and at temporary locations in Eindhoven. There, visitors can see, taste, and discover our products.
We value personal contact. We are happy to tell you more about the origin of our products and, whenever possible, offer tastings. For us, tasting is the most honest introduction: a good product should above all convince through its flavour.
